Ｈ：Ah seeing all that soba and sobadango...

Ａ：Yeah.

Ｈ：makes me so hungry.

Ａ：It looked so good.

Ｈ：So Alisa, have you ever had an experience like in a restaurant, which was a bit embarrassing?

Ａ：At the time I didn’t live in Japan, I was visiting from America to Japan.  The slurping...

Ｈ：Ahhh.

Ａ：Yeah, very normal here but not in the States.

Ｈ：So true.

Ａ：So I did that in the States.  I brought that tradition from Japan to the States.　And people looked at me like I was crazy.

Ｈ：Ahahaha. But you were eating soba, right? In the States?

Ａ：Yeah.

Ｈ：No pasta ya? No spaghetti.

Ａ：No pasta, no spaghetti.

Ｈ：Ok. 

Ａ：How about you?

Ｈ：I’ve had a number of  experiences in the restaurant where I was  wearing the wrong clothes,  I didn’t quite understand the meaning of Black Tie .  Black TIe means, you know,  very smart.  Definitely a Jacket. You’ve got to be very smart.

Ａ：Ahhh.

Ｈ：I have no idea and I looked up to a family dinner in a very very good restaurant in my t-shirt and my jeans and my sandals!

Ａ：Sandals!

Ｈ：Very embarrassing.

Ａ：I would feel very embarrass....

今日は何言ってるのか、はっきりわかりませんでした。お土産屋で試食のせんべいを前にして、ハリーとアリサの会話です。

Today, I have some words not to be understood. In front of the rice cracker in the souvenir shops arcade, the conversation was done between Harry and Alisa.

Ａ：Hmmm, this rice cracker looks good.

Ｈ：Hey, that’s the last one.

Ａ：And?

Ｈ：I I... It’s mine.

Ａ：No.

Ｈ：Hey.  Come on.

Ａ：It’s mine.

Ｅ：Would you like another one? [Harry picked up a pair of rice crackers]

Ｈ：Really? Ahhh, Ah thank you. Ahh hahaha .  Mmm, Like a sandwich would we go!

まったくわかりません。　I couldn’t listen to the place, the boldface at all.

と言った気がするんですけどね。。。どうでしょうか。

ｃｆ　のちに調べた結果、最初の文は、

The sauce sticks to the noodles because of the egg.

でした。日本語は「そのソースは卵によって麺によくくっつくのね。」でした。英語はむずかしいですねぇ・・・

Lesson22です。英語はむずかしいですねぇ。こんな言い方するのっていう表現が次から次へとでてきます。English is difficult, isn’t it?  Phrases I wonder why you use come out one after another.

訪日外国人の会話から。From the conversation of the two female and male visitors to Japan.

Ｆ：See, you Ricky.  I told you it was popular! ほらね、リッキー
Ｍ：I guess you’re right!

こんな風に言うのでしょうか？Is this the typical conversation particularly in the first place?[the boldface]

Ｈ：Oh. Wow! Oh, Hi!

Ａ：Thanks for inviting us today.

Ｈ：I see you’ve got lots of friends here.

Ｅ：Have a seat.

Ｈ：Thank you. Cheers. Ah, here are some drinks. Lovely. I was actually getting rather thirsty. 

Ｅ：Have a drink.

Ｈ：Ah, thank you. Excellent! Let’s have a beer in this.

Ａ：Harry,  could you get us something to eat first?

Ｈ：Can I have a sip first?

ビールを飲もうかっていうときにaって要りましたっけ？

Can we need ‘ a ‘ before ‘beer’ ?

Review7です。今回もとくに聞き取りに苦労した部分はありませんでした。しかし徒然にハリーとアリサのChit-Chat timeを書こうと思います。

Ｈ：So Alisa,

Ａ：Yeah.

Ｈ：This week,

Ａ：Hhm.

Ｈ：there was a bit of confusion with the use of Japanese words.

Ａ：Hmm

Ｈ：Right?　Ｗhen you are trying to say,”ha-do-ru-ga-ta-ka-i”

Ａ：Ahhhh...

Ｈ：Challanging. Instead you said,”ha-n-do-ru-ga-ta-ka-i.”

Ａ：Ahhh.

Ｈ：You know. So...

Ａ：I do remember 

Ｈ：Yeah, kind of “doesn’t mean anything.”

Ａ：Yeah.

Ｈ：Have you ever heard those types of confusion Japanese words...

Ａ：Hmmm. I did have one mistake recently.  I try to say,”oya-mo-oya na-ra-ko-mo-ko-da-yo.”

Ｈ：I see, Like looking at, ah, parents and their kids, you know.  If the parents are like that, obviously the kids are going to be like that, too.

Ａ：Right.

Ｈ：Right, OK.

Ａ：However instead I said, “oya-bun-ko-bun-da-yo.”

Ｈ：Hahahaha...

Ａ：A totally differnt meaning...

Ｈ：Then what's “oyabun” means, yeah?

Ａ：At the time I heard it before but I didn’t really know what it meant.

Ｈ：OK.

Ａ：I do know now, and I know what’s the correct...

Ｈ：OK.

Ａ：Japanese is hard.

Ｈ：Year is.but step by step just like English.

Ａ：Right.

 

あれ！？？？一回聞いて簡単だと思ったのですがやっぱり聞き取りは難しい。

例によって太文字は曖昧ですが、まぁまぁ自信あり！？（＾＾）

Lesson21です。ビデオを何回か見直せば、難聞き取りの部分は解消されました。何回も聞くことが大事ですね。ということで、今回はNothing happily。
